About the ProgramThank you for your interest in Central Coast Grown’s ‘Buy Local’ Program which seeks to build relationships between SLO County farmers, community members, and local restaurants. The goal of this program is to make Central Coast Grown produce more easily identifiable in local restaurants through marketing and promotion. In order to promote local produce, we ask that participating restaurants work with us to incorporate the Central Coast Grown logo into their menu by highlighting certain dishes that are made with mostly local produce. We also ask that chefs sign a commitment to supporting our local farmers by increasing the amount that they buy locally by at least 5% over the next year.
BenefitsAs a participating restaurant, inn, or catering company you will receive free advertising and promotion on our website and at all of our events. By using our recognizable logo you can assure your customers of your commitment to using the freshest local ingredients. In joining Central Coast Grown, you are actively supporting a local food shed, preserving our environment and supporting our local economy; this is a decision you can feel good about!
How to Find Local ProductsMany of our participating restaurants purchase from Farmers Markets or work out deliveries with a few local farmers. The Coast Grown Cooperative, owned by a group of local farms and ranches, is a new and convenient avenue to purchase local agricultural products. Check out their website at www.coastgrown.net to search for products and buy direct from their farms and ranches! Join us!
To join the Central Coast Grown ‘buy local’ campaign all you need to do is fill out the application and send it in by mail, e-mail or fax, using the contact info listed below. This program is funded by a grant from the CDFA and is completely free for participating chefs!
